Following the sold-out success of Wiveliscombe’s first-ever Restaurant Festival in August, the holiday season brings an even bigger treat: the Wivey Festive Rest Fest! On Thursday 5th December, locals and visitors alike are invited to join a culinary "food safari" through the heart of West Somerset’s charming Wiveliscombe, sampling some of the town's best seasonal dishes and wines along the way.
Hosted by MasterChef judge William Sitwell, this festive edition of the festival will begin with mulled wine at the Town Hall, setting the tone for a cosy and unforgettable evening. From there, guests, traveling in groups of about 20, will explore Wiveliscombe’s renowned eateries, enjoying a variety of dishes accompanied by white and red wines.
Participating restaurants include The Bear, with its festive fish pie and signature Black Bear Christmas Ale, The White Hart’s British-inspired terrines, Zekki’s glazed pork belly crafted by Cypriot chef Tim Zekki, and Phoenix Kitchen’s warming chestnut soup and pigs in blankets. Each guest will receive a bespoke keepsake glass to use for the evening’s wine selections, adding a memorable touch to the night.
“I’m so excited to be launching a second Wivey Rest Fest after the success of the first and to enjoy the town’s wonderful array of eating out in festive style on one wonderful winter’s night,” says Sitwell. “It’s fantastic to see such strong support for local businesses, showing that Wiveliscombe residents are eager to champion the culinary gems right on their doorstep.”
Tickets are still available for £80 per person, covering multiple courses, mulled wine, white and red wine, and a taste of The Bear’s Christmas Ale. This is a night not to be missed for anyone looking to celebrate the season with fantastic food, drink, and community spirit.
